Software Update Killer is a great package if you are interested in disabling Apple’s Over-the-air (OTA) updates, these updates usually consist of a firmware update which may remove the jailbreak on your iOS device. Once you install this package you will no longer be able to press the “Download and install” button in the Software Update dialog in your Settings, thus blocking OTA updates.While not typically for everyone, it’s an extra piece of security so you won’t accidently update the your iOS device, or worse… this will prevent anyone who handles your device from updating to a firmware version which isn’t exploitable. Mind this, jailbreaking is completely legal, but developing the jailbreak for a new patched version could take a while, so it is best to use this as an extra measure, no more accidents.
